Etymology
Lydwicke is Lytewyke in 1483Ct , v. wic . It is possibly the hliþwic of 956 (BCS 961) mentioned as a denstow or swine- pasture belonging to the manor of Annington in Bramber. In that case the first element is OE hliþ, 'slope.'
