Mark Cross is Markecross 1509 Churchwardens Book (C.P.), 1547Ct and is to be associated with Alex., Wm., and Aylward atte Merke (1296 SR). The mearc is here the boundary where Rotherfield, Mayfield and Wadhurst meet. Close by is Markhouse Fm (6″).
