Etymology
Box Hill and Boxhill Fm are Box Hill 1629Norfolk , Boxhill 1655 Evelyn's Diary . The latter was probably the home of Thomas Atteboxe (1263Ass ) and William de la Boxe de Dorking (1268 Pat). The hill is still thickly overgrown with box shrubs.Cf. Box (PN W 32).
