Basset Wood is Bassets Wood c. 1840TA . This is probably the boscum de Stoke (s ) Basset mentioned 1211 (early 13th) Thame, evidently named from North Stoke in Crowmarsh, which was known as Stoke Basset (v. 49–50). A place called Bassettes is mentioned 1563Bodl under Ipsden.
