Etymology

Beard Hall, Berd (e )1236 Cl, Hy 3, 1285For , 1292 Ipm, 1306 Asset freq to 1575DuLaMB , Brede 1251 DbA v, (del ) Halle de Berde 1343Cor , Beard Hall Eliz ChancP. This may be, as Ekwall (Studies 134) proposes, OE  brerd 'brim, margin, hill-side', with loss of -r -; but OE  beard 'beard', perhaps in the sense 'hillside, edge', might be thought of.
