'Chapel in the forest (i.e. Peak Forest)', v. chapel(e), (ge)fyrhð.The retention of the French form en le is particularly noteworthy.The chapel is first noted as Ecclesia de Alto Peccho 1219 Fees, Ecclesia de Peck '1226–8 ib.
