Etymology

Courses, Courciz , Courcis 1285For , Corziz c. 1285 ib, Cursys 1289FF , Le Courcys 1292 Ipm, Cours (s )es Hy 8, ElizDuLa . This is a difficult name, but it is possible that it is derived from a family from Courcy (Calvados). No such family has been found in this area, but it should be noted that in P (Db and Nt) there appear the names Robt. de Chaurces (1168) and Willelmus de Chaurcis (1187). Unfortunately there is nothing in the text to associate them with any particular locality.
