Etymology

'the north farm', v. norð , tūn . The township lies north of Sutton 180infra , from which it was separated by Stockham 179infra (now included in Norton), and extends to R. Mersey on the north side of the peninsula between that river and R. Weaver. Cf. Weston 182infra .
