Etymology
'The middle part of Aston', 'the grange at Middle-Aston', from the p.n. Aston 160supra , with middel and grange , cf. Aston Grange 159supra . Middleton Grange was a manor of St Werburgh's Abbey, Chester, with an ancient chapel, Middleton Chappel 1671 Orm2, ecclesia de Estona 1096–1101 (1280) Chest, at a moated site 109– 556771, The Moat 1842 OS, the graunge ground 1547AddCh . This manor and its lands (cf. Parkside infra ) formed an extra-parochial township, distinct in 1831 Bry, included in Aston by Sutton in 1843TA 27.
