Etymology

'At the broad ford', v. brād (wk.dat. brādan ), ford , cf. Bradfordesbrok , Bradeford moor and 'the field of Bradford '1346 VR, Bradefordfeld , Bradefordmerefeld 1310–30Chol , v. brōc , feld , mōr 1 , (ge)mǣre, and cf. 112–13 supra . This place is sometimes confused with Bradford in Whitegate, cf. 325infra . The location of the ford is not clear.
