Etymology

The first name is obscure. The second seems to be a compound of treow and a pers. name Gōsa , cf. Gossington (Gl), DB Gosintune . The meeting place was at the Hundred House (6″) in Brede. The Gose-trowe or 'tree' is mentioned in a Brede Court Roll of 1362.
