Etymology

, 1869 Hutch3 , Cashmore 1774Hutch1, Cashmore Inn , Cashmore Mill 1811 OS, Cashmere Fd 1841TA , probably ' pool where water-cress grows ' , from cærse and mere 1 , with change to -more as in Frogmore supra ; the place is on the small stream which gives name to the Gussages , v. Gussage St Andrew supra in this par . and cf. Cashbrook 2268 . It is probable that the boundary point on þannen mylen stede ' to the mill site ' in the Anglo - Saxon bounds of Handley ( 956 (14) ShaftR (S 630) ) was at or near Cashmoor , cf. the mill here in 1811 , v. myln , stede .
