. This is the manor - house of the estate which passed from the monastery of Sheen to the Crown at the dissolution . Kelly 95 says that the stewardship of this manor is a nominal office in the gift of the Chancellor of the Exchequer , and one of the offices which may be accepted for the purpose of vacating a seat in the House of Commons .
