Etymology

'The nook of Tapa ,' the form halan probably being a late dat. pl. of healh . For the name Tapa , v. Taplow (PN Bk 230) and cf. Tappantreo (BCS 778). The form Tepenhalle seems to show the influence of the allied name Tæppa found in Taplow (Bk).
