Historical Forms

  • ate Wode, atte Wode 1319 Ipm 1362 Ch

In 1362 John atte Wode was granted a licence to impark, the reference evidently being to this particular estate. The 6″ map has the curious form Parkatt Wood for the wood itself, as distinct from the house. The form is said to be used locally.
