Etymology

Restrop is Radestrope c. 1250Rental (p), 1284 RegMalm (p), 1323 Pat, Inq aqd, 1327SR (p), c. 1400Malm , Radesthrop 1332SR (P), 1341 NI (p), 1353 Pat, Radesthorp 1356 Cl, Restrop 1544SR .The second element is OE  þorp, þrop, 'village,' the first would seem to be a personal name but the forms are too late to enable us to determine what it is.
