Etymology

Professor Ekwall compares Rangeworthy (Gl) for which (DEPN) he gives forms Rengeswurda 1167 P, Ryngeworth 1303 FA, Rungeworthe 1349SR . We may add Rungewurthy 1248Ass , Rungeworth 1346 FA, Ryngeworth 1479FF , Rangeworth 1492 Ipm. In both names he would find an OE  *hrynge , 'structure of rungs.'
