Etymology

Moss Hill Field, Morsale 13 Font, Morsall 1361 ib, Mossehall 1543MinAcct , Morsel Ho. 1858 O.S., cf. also Moss Ing 1846TA . Probably 'nook on the moor', v. mōr (gen.sg. mōres ), halh or possibly ON  salr 'hall'.
