Etymology

The estate belonged to the Beaumont family (Lat  de Bello Monte ) from the twelfth century (cf. WB ix, 1 et passim , and the sources cited, YAJ viii, 502 ff); the hall was rebuilt t. Eliz by Sir Richard Beaumont.
