Etymology
Bagwiths (lost), Bacwath 1267 YD vii, 450, Bagwath 1292, 1314 YD v, 15Heal 190, Baggewath 1364 YD vi, Bagwith 1577 Spoff, 1848TA 369. 'Baggi's ford' from the ON pers.n. Baggi and vað . The ford was one which crossed Stockeld Beck and the TA map shows that it was at 1″ O.S. 97–380502. Cf. Bagwith 209infra .
