Etymology

Cadle Pool Fm (6″) is Cadle Pool 1773Rental , Cadlebrooke 1797EnclA and is probably identical with Coldewellhull juxta Sotrive (i.e. Shottery 239–40) 1306Ass . 'Cold spring hill,' v. wielle .This is no doubt the origin also of the numerous field-names Caudle or Cawdle found in the Tithe Awards and recorded by the schools.
