Etymology

St Pancras Lane (6″) (vulgo Pankridge) preserves the name of the monastery of St Pancras—monasterium S. Pancratii apud Leuuas 1081–5 BM. Cf.Pankehurst al.Pancras al.Penticost bridge (1687Lewes Deeds ). It lay some distance to the east of the lane.
