Etymology

This p.n. would seem to be the same as Cookham (Berks), Coccham in BCS 291 (13th cent, copy), Cocheham in DB. There is evidence for an OE  pers. name Cocca (cf. Cocking supra 16) but that hardly explains the modern form with a long vowel.
