Early-attested site in the Parish of Shermanbury

Etymology

Abbeylands Fm. According to Cartwright (325) 'the corps of the prebend of Wyndham is chiefly in this parish and is known by the name of Abbey Lands.' There was a Hospital of Wyndham and we have mention in 1373 (SAC 62, 139) of the Abbot . The Hospital was acquired by Bishop Sherburne and converted into the prebend (W.D.P.).
