Etymology

Gotwick was the home of John de Gotewyke in 1327 SR, Gatwyke in Rusper (1504Ct ). 'Goats' farm,' v. gat , wic . It is probable that this place is to be identified with gatawic (BCS 834), a denn or swine-pasture belonging to Washington (Sx).
