The name of this manor probably contains the common English word boscage , 'woodland,' v. NEDs. v. It was divided from the manor of Plumpton in 1657 (SRS 20) and contains the forest settlements of this manor in Lindfield, Ardingly, Worth etc. (M.S.H.).
