Etymology

Dimsdale Sewer drains the marsh called Dynsdale 1379 Pat. Note also Dinsdale Bridge 1593 HMC xiii, App. 4, Dynesdall brydge 1595 D, Dimsel Sluice 1724 B. The forms are scanty, but this may be 'Dynne's valley,' v. dæl .
