Etymology

'The people of Ūfe ,' v. ing . Cf. Ovingdean infra 311. In the bounds of Pagham in 669 (BCS 50) there is mention of an ufes ford , which possibly derives from the same man who gave name to Oving, the places being only a mile or two apart.
