Etymology

Kingsham is Kyngesham in a charter of 1285 (Bodl 60) and so till we get forms Kinsam (t. Jas 1 ChancP) and Kingsom (1823 G) which suggest the local pronunciation. It is low-lying in a bend by a stream and may be 'king's ham or hamm.'
