Etymology

'The people of Teorra ,' a name not recorded, but suggested by Ekwall (PN in -ing 63). Probably the same pers. name is found in Tarring Neville infra 339. The two names were however kept apart in medieval times by the fact that Ter - forms, with very rare Tor -, Taur - forms, are found for West Tarring, whereas East Tarring almost always has Tor - forms.
