Balneath Manor Ho is Balneth 1554 SRS 14, 105, and gave name to Richard de Balnet (1296 SR). This may be from earlier Bealdanhæþ , with the same pers. name as in Balcombe supra 255 or it may contain the pers. name *Bal (l )a , as suggested by Ritter (96). Cf. further s. n. Balney (PN Bk 7).
