Bishop's Place marks the site of the wood of Bissopeshurst , Byshopeshurst (1262, 1288Ass ), Busschoppesherst (1373 SRS 31, 123), Bushopshurst (1552Survey ). It formed part of the episcopal manor of Streatham.
