Etymology

Clacket is Cleygate 1641 SAC vi, and was the home of Gilbert atte Cleygate (1402 ib.). “An old line of road runs in the direction of Westerham, well-nigh impassable in winter from the clayey nature of the soil” (SAC vi). Cf. Claygate supra 91.
