Pierrepont Ho is Pierpont Lodge 1765 R. It was earlier known as Tanckerdsforde 1577MinAcct , Tankerforde 1590 VCH ii, 612, Tankersford 1622MinAcct , this name being preserved in Tankersford Common (6″). It must take its name from some man bearing the Norman personal name Tancred .
