Etymology

This must be 'ford (and field) of the docks,' doccena being the gen. plural of OE  docce , 'dock,' used also of the water-lily.doccena ford must have been on the county boundary near Dockenfield, v. supra 166. Cf. on doccena ford BCS 888 (Berks).
