Etymology

'The barren waste land', v. mōr 1 , with hall added later. This may well be identified with ofer þæne mor (in the bounds of Bedintun , v. Pillaton infra ) 993 (11th) WSL Deed (printed Sawyer 1979 no. 26 and dated there 996) (Sawyer 879).
