Etymology

This clearly takes its name from the river which, further upstream, gives name to Clowne (Db) and further downstream, to Clumber infra 106. It must have been another name for the Poulter supra 7. Cf. RN 89. It is identical with Clun (Sa).Hunger is a common term of reproach, cf. infra 294.
