The Sarts (6″). Cf. Edenstowe Assart 1609LRMB , Edinstoe assart 1618For . This is the AFr  essart , 'woodland clearing,' a common forest term. For the form sart , cf. PN D 634 where examples are also given from Hampshire and Hertfordshire.See further infra 275.
