Clipstone Shroggs (lost) is The Shrogges c. 1450ForBk , Clipston Shrogges 1486 Pat, 1519 LP, The Scrogs 1602ForBk , Clipston Shroggs 1793 WoodsRept. Shroggs is a common word in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire denoting 'bushes, underwood.' There is another form scrogs which is used in northern England and in Scotland. The site was the west end of Clipstone Forest (DukRec 217).
