Etymology

Blyth Law Hill. The law is a tumulus on the western side of the road from Nottingham to Blyth. In 1476, archbishop George Neville of York died in loco qui vulgo Blyth law nuncupatur , while travelling along this road towards York (Historians of Church of York (Rolls Series) ii, 437). Other references to the place are Blithelou c. 1540 L, Blyth Law Hill 1775 C.v. hlaw .
