Etymology

Nassington stands on a broad headland above the Nene, and the probable interpretation of the name is that it is from OE  næssingatun , 'farm of the dwellers on the ness,' v. næss , ing , tun . Cf. Nazeing (Ess) in PN in -ing 47. Another possibility is that this is an outlying settlement of persons from the 'ness' of Peterborough, v. Nassaborough Hundred infra 223.
