Etymology
The Reaches is le Reche 1375Compotus , c. 1400Rental , lez Reche 1512Compotus . This is the name of the fenland road from Eye to Powder Blue House. It would seem to be the same word reach discussed in PN BedsHu 125s. n. Reach, and found also in Reach (C) in the fen district. It denotes a narrow strip of road.
