Etymology
Lampton is Lamptonfeld 1376 AD v, Lampton 1426Ct , Lamtonfeld 1438 ib., Lambton 1611 ParReg, Lampton 1633FF . Probably 'lamb farm,' v. tun , with unvoicing of b to p before the voiceless consonant. It is perhaps worth noting that Osterley (infra ) is close by. Cf. Lambton (PN NbDu 131).
