Etymology

The Aubreys is 3 crofts called Aldeburys 1529, Aldebury wyk 1577, Alberry or Albery close 1646, le Awberryes 1710 Verulam.'The old burh.' There is a large 'camp' here, v. VCH ii, 107–8.
