Etymology

Cathale (6″) and Cattlegate are Cathale 1216–26 BM, 1240 Ch, Cattehale 1279 Archer, Catteshale 1280 Ipm, Cathalgate , le Chathalegate 1441MinAcct , Cattall Gayte 1611 Archer, Cathellgate 1636DuLa . '(Wild) cat nook or angle of land,' v. healh . Later this was one of the gates of Enfield Chase (Mx).

Cattlegate is partly in Enfield (Mx).
