Etymology

Cuffley is Kuffele 1255Ass (p), Coffeleye , Coffele c. 1275 Gesta, 1314SR (p), 1342Ass , Cuffele 1244, 1367FF , 1380WAM , c. 1430 Annales, Cuffeleie 1338WAM , Couffele 1321 ib. 'Cuffa 's leah.' The name Cuffa is on record (BCS 89) though the authority for it is not very good. Cf. Redin 90.
