Early-attested site in the Parish of Knebworth

Etymology

Pinker Wood (6″). Cf. Pinkeworth 1363Hosp , Little Pynkford 1378 Pat, Pinkers Wood 1730Lytton . The second element is perhaps worþ , as there is no stream near. If so, the name may be identical in origin with Pinkworthy (PN D 388), the first element being the personal name Pinca .
