Etymology

Sinwell, Suuen well ', Synel '1248Ass (p), Sinwell , Synwell 1541FF , 1542 LPet freq to 1629DJ 32, Sunwell 1624FF . The earliest form indicates that this is a contraction of an OE  seofon-wellan 'seven springs' (cf. seofen wyllas in Turkdean i, 184 supra , Sowel, D 565), v. seofon , wella .
