Etymology

Lisleway Hill, the Lyllwaye 1545AOMB , Litlewaye , Liliway 1575TRMB , the Toppe of Lillwey , Lillwey hill ElizSurv . Probably 'the little road', v. lȳtel , weg . OE  lȳtel often becomes dial. [lil, lɑ:l, lɑ:əl] in the NCy and NWMidl and this name and Lilley Brook (97supra ) suggest a similar contraction in Gl, where [lil] is more usual.
