Etymology
'The brew-house', v. brēow-ærn. As in Bruern (O 337), AN loss of final -n (IPN 114) has resulted in the name being associated with OFr bruiere 'heath', hence the Latinised form Brueria . On the change of Brewerne to Brawn cf. Naunton (i, 199supra ) and Phonol. § 22.
